waterhead AmblesidePlans have been unveiled to upgrade Waterhead, a popular tourist spot at the northern tip of Windermere's shore.

South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) and Lakes parish council have put forward £270,000 for the scheme at Waterhead lake frontage which includes a ferry pier, a mix of hotels and guesthouses, a youth hostel, pub, shops and cafes.
Waterhead is also one of the few public access points on the eastern shore of the Lake.

SLDC has launched a consultation on its plans for improvements

The authority is encouraging people to have their say on proposals to improve the promenade, which will include resurfacing walkways, repairing walls and installing a ‘panorama’ board, to identify key Lakeland landmarks that can be seen from the shore.

Other suggestions in the consultation plans include new seating, better landscaping and railings and litter bins more in keeping with the location.

Have Your Say in the Public Consultation

The public consultation will run for two weeks, from January 19th until February 1st 2015.
